Resonance Release Reset

Here is a 10 minute warmup (well I’m babbling a bit so a couple minutes more :-)) that you can do to get more Resonance, Release tension and Reset your voice. It’s a great everyday routine for anyone who wants to check in with their voice or build a bit of stamina and flexibility.

- Start by singing a short cut of a song.

 - Joint openers. Take your time and roll every joint you can think of. It will open up the passageway between your bodies different parts and connect them so the nerv signals can travel as they should. It will help you maintain a proper alignment and it's known to release stress and anxiety. I personally find it meditative and that is good for everything!

 - Hum on your best most resonant note for the day, somewhere in your speaking range. Adjust jaw and lips to maximise the buzz. Feel grounded and don’t judge the sound coming out.

- Tongue control. Move it from M-N-NG and back. Focus on the vibrations, where it’s moving.

- Siren (Ng) and stretch. A great way to pinpoint where you have some extra tension, check in with your voice over the register and get some movement in the larynx. If the hum was more “talky” this Ng should be more “singy”.

- Sing your song again! How did it feel? What was the difference?

Happy Singing!
